Hair Loss Treatment London

Woman with thicker, healthier hair after hair restoration treatment in London

Hair restoration at EliteSkin combines four non-surgical treatments — PRP, mesotherapy, RF microneedling and exosome therapy — to help slow hair thinning and support healthier regrowth. Every plan is made and carried out by a GMC-registered doctor at Marble Arch Medical Centre, 217 Edgware Road, London W2.

What Causes Hair Thinning?

The most common cause is androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss), where hair follicles slowly shrink. Stress, hormones, low iron, thyroid problems and some medicines can also cause shedding. Your doctor checks for these first, as some need blood tests or other treatment.

Key Points

  • PRP: platelets from your own blood, injected into the scalp to support weak follicles

  • Mesotherapy: fine injections of vitamins, amino acids and peptides to nourish the scalp

  • RF microneedling: tiny needles and radiofrequency energy to stimulate the scalp and blood flow

  • Exosome therapy: applied after microneedling to support the scalp’s natural repair

  • Free consultation with a GMC-registered doctor

How Does Treatment Work?

Most people need a course of 3–6 sessions, about 4 weeks apart, then a top-up every 4–6 months. Treatments are often combined, for example PRP with microneedling, for a stronger result.

1. Consultation

Your doctor examines your scalp, asks about your health and may suggest blood tests. Your consultation is free.

2. Your plan

We recommend the right treatment, or combination, for your type of hair loss.

3. Treatment

The scalp is cleaned and numbed if needed. Most sessions take 30–60 minutes.

4. Aftercare

Avoid washing your hair for 24 hours, and skip heat and hard exercise for 2 days. We track progress with photos.

Is This the Same as a Hair Transplant?

No. A transplant moves hair follicles surgically and suits areas that are already bald. Our treatments are non-surgical and work best on thinning hair where follicles are still alive. They can also support results after a transplant.

When Will I See Results, and How Long Do They Last?

Shedding often slows within 2–3 months, and thicker hair usually shows at 3–6 months. In trials, PRP increased hair density by about 28 hairs per cm² on average.

Results vary, and regular top-ups are needed to keep them.

Are There Any Side Effects?

The scalp may feel tender, red or slightly swollen for 1–2 days, and you may have pinpoint bruising.

Headache and temporary shedding can happen. Infection and allergic reactions are rare. Your doctor will explain all risks before treatment.

Why Choose a Doctor-Led Clinic for Hair Loss?

Hair loss can be a sign of a medical problem, such as low iron or a thyroid condition.

- A doctor can find the cause and arrange blood tests

- A doctor can prescribe medical treatment, such as minoxidil or finasteride, if suitable

At EliteSkin, every hair restoration plan is made by a GMC-registered doctor.

Can I Get Hair Loss Treatment on the NHS?

The NHS does not usually fund treatment for pattern hair loss, as it is seen as cosmetic. You can book with us directly, without a GP referral. Before your visit:

- Bring any recent blood test results

- List any medicines and supplements you take

- Wash your hair the day before, with no styling products

- Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen for 2 days before PRP

During your free consultation, your doctor will explain which treatment suits you.

When Should I See a GP About Hair Loss?

See your GP if you lose hair suddenly or in patches, have a red, scaly or painful scalp, or feel unwell with symptoms such as tiredness or weight change. This page is general information and does not replace medical advice. Reviewed by Dr Katerina Konstantinou.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best non-surgical hair loss treatment?

It depends on the cause. PRP has the most evidence among in-clinic treatments, and many people combine it with microneedling or mesotherapy. Your doctor will recommend a plan.

Does PRP work for hair loss?

Trials show PRP can increase hair density in pattern hair loss, by about 28 hairs per cm² on average. Results vary from person to person.

What are exosomes for hair?

Tiny particles that carry proteins and growth signals between cells. They are applied to the scalp after microneedling. Evidence is still early, and they are not licensed medicines.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually 3–6 sessions, about 4 weeks apart, then a top-up every 4–6 months.

Does it hurt?

Most people feel mild stinging or pressure. The scalp can be numbed to keep you comfortable.

When will I see results?

Shedding often slows in 2–3 months, with thicker hair usually showing at 3–6 months.

Is it suitable for women?

Yes. These treatments suit both women and men with thinning hair. Your doctor will also check for causes such as low iron or hormone changes.
